About Me

My name is Bjoern T. M. Larsen, an artist originally from Copenhagen, Denmark, now living and creating in the United States.

A Lifelong Love of Art

My love for painting started very early. As a child, I painted so constantly that my kindergarten eventually had to limit my painting time—partly because I simply wouldn’t stop, and partly because I had a habit of coming home covered in paint.

Fortunately, they didn’t succeed in taking the passion out of me.

Art has remained part of my life ever since, sometimes quietly in the background and at other times becoming the way I express the places, people, nature, and experiences that have shaped me.

From Copenhagen to Italy

I had the privilege of spending my college years in Italy, surrounded by some of the most extraordinary art, architecture, history, and culture in the world.

From Venice, Padua, Turin, and Milan to Siena, Florence, Rome, Bologna, and beyond, Italy gave me an appreciation not only for classical art, but also for the beauty found in everyday surroundings.

I eventually returned to my beloved Copenhagen, but there was still one place I had always dreamed of experiencing: the United States.

Finding Inspiration in America

After visiting Washington (were I live), California, Illinois, and Florida several times, I became fascinated by the incredible mixture of cultures, landscapes, people, and perspectives found throughout the United States.

When I had the opportunity to make the move, I settled first in San Francisco and began a new chapter of my life.

I have lived in the United States since 2014, and over the years I have fallen deeply in love with its landscapes, nature, cities, and extraordinary cultural diversity. Those experiences helped inspire me to return more seriously to painting and eventually to share my work with others.

Today, my art reflects a journey that stretches from the Nordic landscapes and culture of Denmark, through the classical influences of Italy, to the vast landscapes and cultural diversity of the United States.

Art Belongs to the Viewer

While every piece I create begins with an idea, emotion, place, or experience of my own, I believe the meaning of art ultimately belongs to the person standing in front of it.

You may see something entirely different from what I saw while creating it—and I think that is one of the most beautiful things about art.

Your perspective, your memories, and your interpretation are what create the connection between you and a piece of art.

I hope you find something here that speaks to you, brings you joy, makes you think, or simply feels like it belongs in your life.
